…and now He’s making you (Me)

by:Debbie Christopher ~~

I heard a quote on the radio one morning as part of a Morning Motivation devotion. I loved it, and it lived in my mind all day…so of course, it turned into a blog thought!

“God has already made a way—now, He’s making you!”

Did you catch that? He’s ALREADY worked it out… but, now He is ‘making’ you. Wow! What an encouraging concept!

When we come across those bumpy roads in life—those difficult life circumstances—we seem to always ask these same questions.

  • How am I going to make it through this?

  • What in the world am I going to do?

  • Where do I go from here?

  • When will this come to an end?

And, of course…WHY?

The statement above answers each of these questions and allows us to breathe.

God has already worked all things out so…

How am I going to make it through this?

I can do this, or endure this…. through Christ-who saved me, loves me, and has already made a way!

What in the world am I going to do?

Trust in the Lord, don’t try to work it out yourself..trust Him to guide you through.

Where do I go from here?

God’s Word is the flashlight. He holds the flashlight and the roadmap.

When will this come to an end?

The Lord WILL…in His time—according to His plan... Many of our go-to verses that encourage us to ‘wait on the Lord’ infer the promise of ‘the Lord WILL’.

Why? Here’s where the second part comes into play: He’s making you (me).

One of my favorites phrases in scripture is ‘so that’.  Throughout Scripture, especially in the New Testament letters, we read that ABC happens…so that XYZ will take place. The WHY.

Why is this happening!?

Philippians 1:26–so that your confidence may grow in Christ. It is also interesting to note here that Paul is going through tough circumstances so that the Philippian believers will grow in Christ. We learn from watching how God works in others…And… others grow from watching how God works through us!

Romans 8:28-29…so that we may be conformed to the image if His Son…become more Christ-like.

Philippians 2:13-15…so that we shine like stars in this world.

James 1:4 and 1 Peter 1:6-7 speak for themselves. Please, take a moment to read them for yourself!

If you’re a regular follower of this site, you may recall how often I refer to chapter 6 in Sharon’s book, CORE:Biblical Principles for When Life gets Bumpy.

As you grasp the concept presented in this aforementioned quote, I trust you can also take that deep breath and say, like Sharon shared in chapter 6, “Okay, God…” rather than “Whoa, God”. Remember, God has already made a way. Now, He’s making you!

One last verse that sums up all those questions…

“For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Trust, Learn, Grow

~Debbie

This song was a favorite during a recent bumpy road detour in our lives… it checked off all those questions and encouraged me so much.
