Because ‘Miss’ Stephanie Prayed…by:Debbie Christopher

My husband and I encountered a travel nightmare back in May as we were traveling to visit Sharon* and her dear family. This  event (I don’t know what else to call it!) reminded me of Crowder’s song, “Somebody Prayed”.

I will spare you all the details-but suffice it to say, we were shocked ‘that even God could do this!’ Not really…but, I’m sure you’ve had those moments as well!

Due to weather, FIFA arrivals/connections, and a holiday weekend, DFW was a mess! We had missed our connecting flight to PDX and at 2:30 AM, trying to sleep at a B gate, I posted our situation on social media and shared that I had just walked down to an open convenience store and bought my husband and myself a hot chocolate because it was SOOO cold in the airport! In that same post, I asked friends to pray (although it was 2:30 AM!) that we would make a possible 9:30 AM standby flight—or we’d probably be stuck there for a second night!!

Later that morning-as normal people were waking up, our dear Pastor’s Wife (not knowing our situation) read and commented on that post. This is what she posted: “Oh my word! I literally woke up and thought of you. I meant to text to see if you made it safely and thought I’d wait til morning because you’d probably be asleep. 🤭Just prayed you’ll get on the next flight out.❤️”

She had no idea what we were experiencing at the time, but she knew to pray for us!”

When our gate ‘opened’, we were listed as #11 and #12 on the standby list—things didn’t look good.

At 9:30, they called the first two on the list and closed the flight, and we began to research options. The next thing we knew, we were being whisked away quickly down the ramp and placed on the plane with some kind of explanation about a situation with the emergency row seats…that made no sense at all. To this day, we are still scratching our heads as to what had taken place.

But, as we buckled up—still bedazzled, I said to my husband, “Whatever just happened was because ‘Miss’ Stephanie prayed”, and tears flowed!

(I’ve never used the word bedazzled before… but no other word seemed to fit as we barely had time to text our Son-in-Law that we would be arriving on that flight after all!)

Friends, if someone comes to mind at a weird time…pray for them! Someone may say it was because YOU prayed.

A family in our town was affected by a serious car accident a couple of years ago. There was no way that young man ‘should have’ survived, much less, walked away from the hospital several months later with a glorious testimony of God’s grace and healing. This took place when ‘Somebody Prayed’ was one of the top songs on Christian radio. This young man’s mom simply stated, “It looks like somebody prayed!

Be that somebody!
