It is Veteran's Day, 2021! May we not forget the sacrificial service of all the military members.
For those past and present, thank you for your bravery and willingness to serve and protect the people of this great country.
Here are some facts about those in the military. Military personnel:
1. Sacrifice time away from their family
2. See the unthinkable
3. Find themselves in harm's way
4. Endure genuine hardship
5. Must obey orders
This is a small list, among So. Many. Others...
Bible Analogy:
In the New Testament, the brave soldier is an analogy from which we can learn. In 2 Timothy 2:3-4, we see a military analogy play out.
For Christians, we are told that we must endure hardships as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
(Hmmm...hardship. Sounds like a 'bump' to me!)
The end of verse 4 is a beautiful proclamation that spiritual soldiers desire to please the one who enlists them as soldiers in the first place.
In this passage's context, good Christian soldiers endure trials AND aim to please God, as their Leader.
So, on this Veteran's Day, let's remember two things:
1. Our military personnel's great sacrifice and bravery
2. Our spiritual call to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ...through showing endurance in our 'bumps' along life's road
Veterans, THANK YOU!
Love,
Sharon
This is good! Thank you for the reminders of who we are suppose to be and also of those who serve on our behalf!
Yes, indeed!
