Many of my readers and I love to hear and/or sing great, solid Christian music lyrics.
My favorite songs are the ones that are taken directly from Scripture or clearly use a Biblical principle.
In this blog, bumps are the name of the game! I wanted to share my favorite songs that can help us keep a good attitude—even in the midst of trials.
Now for the “catchy” part from the title…
I almost included many more song ideas, but I realized that too much of anything can cause brains (like mine!) to not remember anything. I decided to only write about two main song ideas. This post is designed to help others have Biblically-based songs stuck in their heads (that's the "catchy" part!) for when bumps happen. =]
Here are my two favorite Biblically-based songs to think through during life’s bumps.
1) CityAlight’s This is the Day
One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
CityAlight’s song literally contains this Biblical principle in the main chorus. “This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice as we lift His name. This is the day that the Lord has made. Come and rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
What a great song to hum, sing in your mind, or sing out loud (yes, especially in life’s annoyances and difficulties!).
The Bible makes it clear what our aim should be each day—maintain an attitude of joy in spite of the bumps (because God has made the day!).
I appreciate CityAlight’s song because it is catchy and helps me remember Psalm 118:24.
2) Keith & Kristyn Getty’s Rejoice
Amazingly, this song starts with one of my other favorite Bible verses, Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
The premise of the entire song is that we have every reason to praise the Lord and be joyful (though of course, it’s not always easy).
In my opinion, the best part of this song is found in its second verse. Verse #2 covers the topics found all throughout Philippians 4:
-Joy
-Dealing with anxious thoughts
-Prayer
-Thanksgiving
-Resultant peace that guards our hearts and mind
Life’s bumps can bring about anxious thoughts. Philippians 4 is one of the neatest Bible chapters for how to conquer unsteady thought processes—including how to keep a joyful heart posture.
Again, I view the Getty’s song, Rejoice, as an excellent set of lyrics to have in my mind during a difficult circumstance.
Here are YouTube links to each of the songs:

It is cool…and comforting to have a song pop into your mind and keep you going!
