Low Visibility…Watch Out!
Recently, after two dry weeks in our area, rain entered…and on a grocery shopping day! After shopping, I had many bags of groceries, and my husband and kiddos were not home. To make my life a bit easier for unloading purposes, I decided I should back the van into the garage. It turned out to be not so great of an idea. The garage light was off, and we have a deep, dark garage. Since it was very dark, I did not have a good line of sight!
I went for it, though. I chose to keep backing up into the dark. Thankfully, I did not scrape or hit anything, but I almost did many times. I could tell, as I was doing a terrible job backing up in straight fashion, while in the dark.
Line of Sight
Low visibility! I experienced it that day. It has kept airplanes from taking off. Fog has caused drivers to stay at home.
Our “line of sight” is important. Light is important. What does this mean for us spiritually? Psalm 119:105 reads, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (NKJV).
God’s Word (the Bible!) lights our spiritual way. It operates as a light for our path. God’s truth helps us know how to live in a way that pleases Him.
Two Incredible Phrases
Just before I worked on this blog post, I listened to a podcast called, The Mom Next Door, by Pam Fields. You can listen to it here. The podcast is called Do Less, Prioritize Him More. Here are two phrases that impacted me:
· “A journey of faith”
· “When we do not see the next season”[1]
Pam Fields stated the first phrase, while her guest, Kelly, stated the next. I thought I would combine them into one sentence to make a point regarding our path in life, which should be brightened by God’s Word.
We are on “a journey of faith when we do not see the next season.” Too bad the Bible never tells us exactly what is headed our way! I think it’s safe to say, though, that the Bible lights our path to help us know how to walk in this life!
On our path, we never know what bumps may strike, but the truth of Scripture helps us know how to respond in our journey…IN FAITH.
Passionate Topic
I am passionate about this very topic. My upcoming book will cover aspects of faith in our life-lived…even in the midst of the bumpy unknown!
If nothing else, may we gain from Psalm 119:105 that the Bible is necessary. It is vital. It is our spiritual light on our unknown path! Let’s not go through life with unnecessary low visibility!
~Take it easy, and let the light shine!
